England picks strong boxing squad for Delhi 2010

European silver medallists Khalid Yafai, Iain Weaver and Tom Stalker feature in England's 10-man boxing squad for the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi. Coach Rob McCracken, a former middleweight boxer himself, said he was looking for the team to build on the success in the recent European Championships (held in Moscow in June) and continue the tradition of England boxers doing well at the Commonwealth Games. “This is an important part of our preparations for London 2012,” he was reported as saying.

England tops the all-time medal table having won 106 medals, including 47 gold medals - almost twice as many as Canada, in second place, with 24. England's boxers topped the medal table in Melbourne in 2006 with five gold, one silver and two bronze medals and finished runner-up to Australia in Manchester in 2002.

Squad:
49kg (light flyweight): Tommy Stubbs
52kg (flyweight): Khalid Yafai
56kg (featherweight): Iain Weaver
60kg (lightweight): Tom Stalker
64kg (light welterweight): Bradley Saunders
69kg (welterweight): Callum Smith
75kg (middleweight): Anthony Ogogo
81kg (light heavyweight): Obed Mbwakongo
91kg (heavyweight): Simon Vallily
91kg+ (super heavyweight): Amin Isa.
